Who is Brian?

San Francisco, CA

Brian is a long-time resident of San Francisco and a long-time member of the Miracle Messages family. With such a giving heart, he is an inspiration for us and for many.

Miracle Money Goals 2021

1. Put away $120 each month to visit his family in Omaha, Nebraska for his 64th birthday in the summer

2. Buy any essential items for himself such as food or clothing

3. Help his friends with their needs by allocating a portion of the Miracle Money funds for others

More about Brian

With the help of Miracle Messages’ reunion program, our investigators were able to reunite Brian and his brother Steven after two years of separation. Brian celebrated with “happy tears” and shared how meaningful this reunion was to him.

He has had stable housing for 14 years, but he has worked with the unhoused community and has become a valued community ambassador. His years of being unhoused also brought invaluable perspective and expertise to the Miracle Messages team in street outreach efforts as a Miracle Messages community ambassador, prior to the pandemic.

Brian is grateful for Miracle Money and plans to use it for himself, but also to give back to others in need. He loves to keep active and ride his bike, Ingrid, all around the city and was even granted the title of ‘dog-whisperer’ by many of his friends.

Brian’s Miracle Money Experience

In the first month of Miracle Money, Brian helped celebrate his godson by purchasing balloons, food, and cake for his friends’ blue and gold-themed baby shower. He also utilized some of his money to assist another friend to fly home from Chicago.

While his main source of income is from disability, with Miracle Money, Brian doesn’t have to stress as much about making ends meet, and can focus on himself and helping others. He used some of the funds for everyday activities like laundry and plans to save up for more essential items that he can buy in the future.

During the course of Miracle Money, the funds have come in handy for Brian, allowing him to pay some of his bills. Although the month was quiet, Brian can’t wait to resume his pre-pandemic social outreach in the community.

Brian was able to save over $200 one month and is working to save some from the other months. He typically buys only what he needs; food is his greatest expense. As usual, he helped his neighbors out when they needed a meal or groceries and he spent a lot of time with his growing 15 lb godson. Brian celebrated his birthday with a few of his army friends outside of the city. Together, they created the “Green and Clean Group” to help people recover from alcoholism and maintain sobriety.

With the help of Miracle Money, Brian went to Sacramento to stay with the daughter he had not seen in almost four years. During his visit, they had the chance to finally reconnect in person. Brian is planning to go on another trip with his savings. He also uses the funds for his daily expenses such as food, clothing, and healthcare.

Why Miracle Money?

Build relationships.

Our Miracle Friends program meets people where they are at, treats people not as problems to be solved but as people to be loved. We find that good communication and accountability follow.

Give funds.

We have raised over $45,000 through peer-to-peer fundraising to give 15 recipients $500/month for six months. Funds are used for housing, car repairs and transportation, bills, clothing, and more.

Repeat.

Seeing how Miracle Money changes lives, donors are encouraged to give and see the joy of knowing that every dollar donated goes to an unhoused neighbor in need. They follow updates along the way.

Help make a difference.

Donate to Miracle Money and help change a life like Brian’s.
